Film screening as part of the conference "Nach dem Anschluss – Remembering Austria’s 1938" in Jerusalem
The audiovisual memory of the Nazi era was considerably shaped by the Nazi propaganda machine. Archival collections such as the Austrian Film Museum’s, however, hold unofficial images that supplement and sometimes contradict the official version of events. In our presentation we show rare, often fragmentary and sometimes confusing "ephemeral" films: home movies, documentary reports, advertising and information films.
