Heinz Berger

Heinz Berger, historian, is a researcher at the Ludwig Boltzmann Institute for Digital History (LBIDH).

He was a researcher for various research projects at the Universities of Salzburg and Vienna, the Republic of Austria (e.g., “Austrian Historical Commission”, “Mauthausen Survivors Documentation Project (MSDP)”) and taught as a lecturer at the Universities of Salzburg and Vienna, at the University of Education Vienna and at the Leibniz Institute for Social Sciences in Cologne. 2000-2017 he was a researcher at the Ludwig Boltzmann Institute for Historical Social Science (LBIHS). Since July 2017, he has been at the Ludwig Boltzmann Institute for History and Society (LBIGG), which was renamed Ludwig Boltzmann Institute for Digital History (LBIDH) in March 2019.

His research and teaching focus on data management, quantifying method and e-learning in historical studies, social history of Jews in Vienna, concentration camp memories, historical mobility research and biographical studies. He is also responsible for the administrative coordination of the institute.

Current work focus: “Mauthausen Survivors Research Project” (MSRP).
