The Nazi takeover of Austria in „Ephemeral“ Films. Presentation of Austrian Private Movies around 1938

Date

Di, 06/11/2018 – 18:00

Location

Jerusalem Cinematheque, 11 Hebron rd., Jerusalem, 9108402, Israel

Film screening as part of the conference „Nach dem Anschluss – Remembering Austria’s 1938“ in Jerusalem

Presentation of rare, often fragmentary and sometimes confusing „ephemeral“ films: home movies, documentary reports, advertising and information films

The audiovisual memory of the Nazi era was considerably shaped by the Nazi propaganda machine. Archival collections such as the Austrian Film Museum’s, however, hold unofficial images that supplement and sometimes contradict the official version of events.
